The theme of the classes is "pond life."
"Kids will learn about the amazing creatures that call Ruckman Pond home," said Director/Naturalist Marc Gussen. "We will explore the aquatic world with hands-on activities and live pond animals."
The classes will be offered from 3:45–5 p.m. on different dates according to age group:
- Pre-K and kindergarten: Sept. 13, 20, 27;
- First and second grade: Sept. 14, 21, 28;
- Third through sixth grade: Sept. 15, 22, 29.
The cost is $30 for members and $40 for non-members.
To register, contact Gussen at (201) 750-2778.
On Sept. 22 at 8 p.m., Gussen is inviting adults to join him in mushroom hunting.
The director will provide the answers to questions such as:
- “What is that orange thing growing on the tree in my backyard?”
- “Those look tasty, I wonder if they are edible?”
"September is a great month for mushroom hunting," Gussen said. "Feel free to bring any of your amazing fungal finds to the lecture for identification."
Attendees will meet at the cabin by Ruckman Pond.
